The Bilstein 8112 ZoneControl™ CR is an advanced bolt-on coilover system that utilizes multiple pistons and multi-stage damping zones to deliver exceptional control across the entire range of travel. The design prioritizes balanced performance: smooth ride quality on pavement with substantial bottom-out resistance and composure off-road.

Triple-Piston Architecture

Each 8112 coilover contains three internal pistons:

• Main piston — Provides core damping for everyday driving and moderate off-road use.

• Compression zone piston — Activates during deeper compression events such as big hits, G-outs, and high-speed terrain.

• Rebound zone piston — Controls extension to prevent harsh top-out and improve stability over uneven ground.

This triple-piston setup effectively creates distinct internal damping zones, allowing the coilover to react precisely to changing terrain without sacrificing comfort.

ZoneControl™ CR Damping System

“CR” indicates both Compression and Rebound zone management. Unlike conventional coilovers that rely on a single piston, the 8112 uses additional internal pistons that only engage during high-load situations. This allows the coilover to remain compliant during normal driving while providing extra control exactly when needed.

60mm Shock Body With Remote Reservoir

The large-diameter 60mm monotube body increases oil capacity and improves heat dissipation. Combined with the remote reservoir, the 8112 coilover maintains consistent damping performance even during extended off-road use or aggressive driving.

Adjustable Lift Range

Typical lift range for Tacoma applications:

• Approximately 0.5" to 2.6", depending on preload and spring selection.

DSA+ Adjustable Version (Optional Front Upgrade)

The DSA+ variant adds external adjustability with dual speed compression adjusters. These allow independent tuning of:

• Low-speed compression (body control, weight transfer)

• High-speed compression (sharp impacts, washboards, bumps)

This upgrade is recommended for Tacomas that carry additional weight, tow frequently, or operate in varied or demanding terrain.

Bilstein B8 8100 Rear Shock Options — Choose Your Configuration

The kit allows selection between three 8100-series rear shock technologies. All variants use large monotube construction with remote reservoirs for superior heat management and damping consistency.

1. 8100 Smooth Body (Base Option)

Ideal for daily driving and moderate off-road use. Offers excellent ride quality, consistent damping, and improved control without excessive firmness. Best suited for lightly modified Tacomas.

2. 8100 DSA (Dual Speed Adjustable)

Designed for variable loads and mixed environments. Features both high-speed and low-speed compression adjusters, allowing fine-tuning based on payload, driving surface, and desired ride characteristics. Well-suited for overland builds, bed racks, and vehicles carrying additional rear weight.

3. 8100 Bypass Adjustable

The top-tier performance option. Bypass tubes and external adjusters give the shock multiple damping zones, similar to race-spec bypass shocks. Offers plush small-bump sensitivity with strong bottom-out resistance. Recommended for aggressive off-road driving, desert terrain, and heavily equipped Tacomas.

Which Kit is Right for You

Fitment and Installation Notes

• Fits 2005–2023 Toyota Tacoma (6-lug models).

• Front lift range: approximately 0.5"–2.6" depending on setup.

• Rear lift range: compatible with stock or aftermarket leaf packs (up to roughly 1.5" of lift).

• New aftermarket upper control arms are required with this kit. The factory UCAs do not provide adequate clearance or alignment range when combined with the 8112 coilovers.

• Bolt-on installation with no cutting or welding required.

• Compatible with stock spindles, brakes, and ABS lines.
