First off, Hotshot is one of the most communicative and helpful companies I have ever dealt with. I would welcome the opportunity to give them repeat business and will recommend to others. Very impressed!
As far as the shocks go, on the street, they ride a lot like the 5100s I had on a different truck. I can't really comment of the difference/benefits of the 5100s vs the 6112/5160s, as I have not yet taken them offroad, nor have I towed with them on this particular truck, as I just got it.
I will say that, if you want to know if these make a difference, the answer is hell yes! Due to a backorder situation, I installed the rears only for a few weeks, as I couldn't take the factory shocks any more. The truck felt so awkward and discombobulated, having the front so soft and uncontrolled while the rears were so composed, it was hilarious...and shameful for the garbage stock shocks. After the front shocks were installed (2" setting) the truck felt very balanced and composed, with just a bit of rake, which is exactly what I wanted.
With how firm the Bilsteins ride on smaller bumps, I would suggest looking at shocks with progressive damping (like Fox) for street-only use, as they should be much more compliant around town. I offroad and tow regularly, so I prefer the digressive nature of the Bilsteins to keep the trailer in check, and am happy to compromise street comfort, knowing that small trailer movements will be well-controlled, and big hits will be absorbed with increasing levels of compliance; the last thing I would want is a wallowey feeling while towing.
So far, for my use case, these are a big thumbs up. Time will tell if they are worth the extra coin over the much cheaper 5100s. I was interested in finding out, so I gave them a chance.
